Red Bull RB1
Red Bull RB1
The Red Bull RB1 is a Formula One racing car designed and built by the Red Bull Racing team for the 2005 Formula One World Championship. It was the first car produced by the team after the energy drink company Red Bull GmbH purchased the Jaguar Racing team in late 2004.
Design and Development[edit | edit source]
The RB1 was designed by Mark Smith and Rob Taylor, with input from Adrian Newey, who would later become the team's chief technical officer. The car was powered by a Cosworth TJ2005 3.0-litre V10 engine, which was a carryover from the Jaguar R5. The chassis was constructed from carbon fibre and honeycomb composite structure, which provided a lightweight yet strong framework.
Performance[edit | edit source]
The RB1 made its debut at the 2005 Australian Grand Prix, with drivers David Coulthard and Christian Klien. The car showed competitive pace for a new team, with Coulthard finishing in the points in several races. The team's best result came at the 2005 European Grand Prix where Coulthard finished 4th.
