History[edit | edit source]
The Red Bull Romaniacs was founded by Martin Freinademetz, a former snowboard World Champion and an avid motorcycle enthusiast. His vision was to create an event that not only challenged riders physically and mentally but also showcased the beautiful landscapes of the Romanian Carpathians. The first race took place in 2004 and quickly gained a reputation for its difficulty and the unique experience it offered.
Format[edit | edit source]
The event is divided into several stages, including a prologue in the city of Sibiu, which serves as a qualifier for the starting positions in the main race. The prologue is known for its inventive and challenging obstacles, drawing large crowds of spectators. Following the prologue, the competitors embark on the off-road stages, which take them through some of the most remote and challenging terrains in Romania. The race is timed, and penalties are applied for missing checkpoints or failing to complete tasks.
