Repeat

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Repeat is a term used in various fields, including computer science, music, and genetics, to denote the recurrence of a sequence, pattern, or event.

Computer Science[edit | edit source]

In computer science, a repeat refers to the process of executing a certain sequence of instructions in a program multiple times. This is typically achieved through looping constructs such as the for loop and while loop.

Music[edit | edit source]

In music, a repeat sign is a sign that indicates a section should be repeated. If the piece has one repeat sign alone, then that means to repeat from the beginning, and then continue on (or stop, if the sign appears at the end of the piece).

Genetics[edit | edit source]

In genetics, a repeat refers to the recurrence of a sequence of DNA or RNA on a chromosome. These repeats can be short sequences of DNA repeated many times in a row, or long sequences of DNA repeated a few times. They can be found in many organisms, including humans, and can have significant biological effects.
