Reykjavík-Rotterdam
Reykjavík-Rotterdam is a 2008 Icelandic film directed by Óskar Jónasson. The film is a dramatic thriller set in the world of international smuggling, and its title refers to the shipping route between Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, and Rotterdam, a major port city in the Netherlands.

The film follows the story of a former smuggler, Kristófer, who is trying to live a normal life as a security guard and family man in Reykjavík. However, he is drawn back into the world of smuggling when he agrees to do one last job, transporting goods from Rotterdam to Reykjavík.
Cast[edit | edit source]
The film stars Baltasar Kormákur as Kristófer, Ingvar Eggert Sigurðsson as Steingrímur, and Lilja Nótt Þórarinsdóttir as Iris.
Reception[edit | edit source]
Reykjavík-Rotterdam was well received by critics and audiences alike. It was selected as the Icelandic entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 82nd Academy Awards, but it did not make the final shortlist.
Remake[edit | edit source]
In 2012, a Hollywood remake of the film, titled Contraband, was released. The remake was directed by Baltasar Kormákur, who starred in the original film.
