Rincón is a town and municipality in Puerto Rico, located in the Western Coastal Valley, west of Añasco and Aguada. Rincón is spread over 9 wards and Rincón Pueblo (the downtown area and the administrative center of the city). It is part of the Mayagüez Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Rincón is well known for its beautiful beaches and has earned a reputation as a paradise for surfers, often hosting many surfing events. The town's most famous beach, Domes Beach, is named after the distinctive dome of the inactive Rincón Nuclear Power Plant. Besides surfing, Rincón offers visitors a variety of other water sports, including snorkeling, scuba diving, and whale watching, particularly during the winter months when humpback whales migrate to the area.

The history of Rincón dates back to the 16th century when it was originally settled by the Spanish. The town was officially founded in 1771 by Luis de Añasco. The name "Rincón," which means "corner" in Spanish, is said to derive from the geographical shape of the town itself.

Rincón is also known for its beautiful sunsets, and its Punta Higüero Lighthouse, which has become a popular spot for watching the sunset and the migrating whales. The lighthouse was originally built in 1892 and has been an important landmark for ships navigating through the Mona Passage between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

The town's economy is primarily based on tourism, agriculture, and fishing. In recent years, Rincón has seen a growth in local businesses, including restaurants, bars, and shops, catering to both the local population and tourists.

Rincón is also home to several cultural and community events throughout the year, including the Rincón International Film Festival and the Festival of the Patron Saints, which celebrate the town's patron saint, Santa Rosa de Lima, with parades, food, music, and dancing.

The municipality is governed by a mayor, elected every four years. The current mayor is Carlos López, affiliated with the Popular Democratic Party (PPD).

Rincón's natural beauty, combined with its warm and welcoming community, makes it a popular destination for both Puerto Ricans and international visitors looking for a tranquil escape.
