Rock County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,526. Its county seat is Bassett. The county was formed in 1888 and named after Rock Creek, which flows through the area.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Rock County is located in the north-central part of Nebraska. It is bordered by Keya Paha County to the north, Boyd County to the northeast, Holt County to the east, Loup County to the south, and Brown County to the west. The county's total area is 1,012 square miles, of which 1,008 square miles is land and 4.1 square miles is water.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,526 people, 677 households, and 448 families residing in the county. The population density was 1.5 inhabitants per square mile. The racial makeup of the county was 98.8% white, 0.1% black or African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.1% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 0.6% from two or more races. Those of Hispanic or Latino origin made up 1.0% of the population.
