Rogue Creamery

Rogue Creamery is an artisan cheese company based in Central Point, Oregon, United States. The creamery is renowned for its handcrafted blue cheese and cheddar cheese varieties.

Rogue Creamery was established in 1933 during the Great Depression by Tom Vella. The creamery initially produced cheddar cheese to support the local Southern Oregon economy. In the 1950s, the creamery began producing blue cheese, inspired by the traditional methods used in Roquefort, France.

Products[edit | edit source]

Rogue Creamery's product line includes a variety of artisan cheeses. The creamery is best known for its blue cheese, particularly the Crater Lake Blue and Oregon Blue, and its cheddar cheese, including Oregonzola and Caveman Blue. The creamery also produces a range of seasonal and specialty cheeses.

Awards and Recognition[edit | edit source]

Rogue Creamery has received numerous awards and accolades for its cheeses. In 2003, its Oregon Blue was the first American cheese to be awarded Best Blue Cheese at the World Cheese Awards. In 2019, the creamery's Rogue River Blue was named the World's Best Cheese, marking the first time an American cheese received this honor.
