It involves increasing the value of a number to the nearest whole number, decimal place, or significant figure. The process of rounding up involves determining whether the digit to be rounded is greater than or equal to five. If it is, the digit is increased by one, and all the digits to the right of it are replaced with zeros. If the digit to be rounded is less than five, it remains unchanged, and all the digits to the right of it are replaced with zeros.
For example, if we want to round up the number 3.45 to the nearest whole number, we would increase it to 4. Similarly, if we want to round up the number 3.456 to the nearest hundredth, we would increase it to 3.46.
