History[edit | edit source]

Route 47 was introduced in 2005 as part of the MTA Quickbus initiative, which aimed to provide faster service by reducing the number of stops compared to local bus routes. The route was designed to serve commuters traveling between the northeastern suburbs and downtown Baltimore.

The route was discontinued in 2017 due to low ridership and budget constraints. The Maryland Transit Administration reallocated resources to other routes with higher demand.

Route 47 began at the Overlea Park & Ride, located near the intersection of Belair Road and Northern Parkway. It traveled south along Belair Road, making limited stops at major intersections and transfer points. Key stops included:

The route terminated in Downtown Baltimore, with its final stop at the Baltimore Arena.

Service Frequency[edit | edit source]

Route 47 operated on weekdays only, with buses running every 15 minutes during peak hours. Service was available from 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM, catering primarily to commuters.
