SFHAM

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellnesspedia

The SFHAM (Single Fibre Based Heart Activity Model) is a comprehensive model that aims to describe the electrical activity of the left ventricle of the heart, particularly during its depolarization phase. This model is instrumental in advancing our understanding of cardiac electrophysiology and has clinical implications for diagnosing ischemic changes in the heart.

Principles[edit | edit source]

The core principles of the SFHAM model are:

  • Cardiac Muscle Composition: The cardiac muscle, including the interventricular septum, anterior wall, inferior wall, lateral wall, and posterior wall, acts as a source of independent instantaneous potential.
  • Electric Potential: The electric potential originating from a specific area of the heart is influenced by variations in electric charge density. This includes different layers like the endocardium, M cells, and epicardium.
  • QRS Complex: The QRS unit on an ECG represents the cumulative result of all potentials generated during the depolarization of distinct myocardium parts.
  • Potential Value Dependency: The value of instantaneous potential is contingent on the quality and activity of particular segments of the ventricle walls.
  • Time-Varied Potentials: Changes in the values of potential distribution on the chest's surface are influenced by both physiological and pathological factors.
  • Stable Contribution: In a healthy individual, the electrical activity from each myocardium part contributes a consistent proportion, expressed in percentage, to the overall myocardial activity.

Clinical Utility[edit | edit source]

The SFHAM provides a robust theoretical foundation for the following applications:

  • SATRO-ECG System: SFHAM is the backbone of the SATRO-ECG system, a tool designed for non-invasive diagnosis. This system is pivotal in facilitating the early detection of ischemic changes in the heart, thus improving patient outcomes and potentially saving lives.

Future Directions[edit | edit source]

With continuous research and advancements in cardiology, it is anticipated that the SFHAM model will undergo refinements and evolve to incorporate new findings, ensuring its relevance and applicability in clinical practice.
