The Saint Petersburg State Medical Academy (SPSMA), officially known as the Saint Petersburg State Medical University named after I. I. Mechnikov, is a public medical university located in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It was established in 1907 and is one of the oldest medical schools in Russia.

The academy was founded in 1907 as the Women’s Medical Institute of Saint Petersburg, the first institution in Russia to offer higher medical education to women. In 1920, it was renamed the First Leningrad Medical Institute. In 1994, it received its current name in honor of the famous Russian immunologist Ilya Ilyich Mechnikov.
