The Maipo River is a significant geographical feature, providing essential water resources for agriculture, drinking, and industry.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the latest census, the Santiago Metropolitan Region is the most populous region in Chile, with a population exceeding 7 million people. This accounts for nearly 40% of the total population of the country. The region has experienced rapid population growth, primarily due to migration from other regions in search of better employment opportunities and living conditions. This influx has led to a diverse demographic composition and significant urban expansion.

The economy of the Santiago Metropolitan Region is the largest and most dynamic in Chile. It contributes significantly to the national GDP, with key sectors including finance, retail, telecommunications, and manufacturing. The region is home to the Santiago Stock Exchange, numerous multinational corporations, and a vibrant startup ecosystem.
