Scio House Hospital

Scio House Hospital was a temporary American Civil War hospital located in Scio, New York. It was established in 1862 and served as a medical facility for wounded soldiers until 1865.

The Scio House Hospital was established in the former Scio House hotel building. The hotel was converted into a hospital in 1862, at the height of the American Civil War. The hospital was primarily used to treat wounded soldiers from the Union Army, although it also provided care for local civilians when necessary.

The hospital was staffed by a team of doctors, nurses, and volunteers from the local community. Despite the challenging conditions, the staff at Scio House Hospital were able to provide a high standard of care for their patients. The hospital was known for its innovative medical treatments and was one of the first hospitals in the region to use anesthesia during surgery.
