Scope (charity)
Scope is a UK charity that provides support and information to disabled people and their families. The charity was founded in 1952 by a group of parents and social workers who wanted to ensure that their disabled children had the right to a decent education. Since then, Scope has grown to become one of the largest disability charities in the UK, providing a range of services including advice, support, and campaigning for change.
History[edit | edit source]
Scope was originally known as the Spastics Society. The charity was founded in 1952 by a group of parents and social workers who were dissatisfied with the lack of educational opportunities for their disabled children. The charity changed its name to Scope in 1994 in order to reflect its broader focus on all types of disability, not just cerebral palsy.
