History

ScotSTAR was established in 2013 by the Scottish Government to consolidate and enhance the patient transport services in Scotland. The service was designed to provide a single, unified system for the transport of critically ill patients, replacing the previous system where multiple organizations were involved.

Services

ScotSTAR provides a range of services, including:

• Neonatal Services: ScotSTAR provides transport for critically ill newborns and infants, ensuring they receive the necessary medical care during transport.
• Pediatric Services: ScotSTAR also provides transport for critically ill children, with a team of specialists trained in pediatric care.
• Adult Services: ScotSTAR's adult services include transport for critically ill adults, with a team of specialists trained in adult care.

Operations

ScotSTAR operates from a purpose-built facility at Glasgow Airport, with a fleet of specially equipped vehicles and aircraft. The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing transport for patients across Scotland and beyond.

Staff

ScotSTAR's staff includes a multidisciplinary team of medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, paramedics, and pilots. All staff members are highly trained in their respective fields and have extensive experience in patient transport and critical care.
