Scott Verplank was born on July 9, 1964, in Dallas, Texas. He grew up in a family that encouraged his interest in golf from a young age. Verplank attended Oklahoma State University, where he played collegiate golf and achieved significant success. During his time at Oklahoma State, he won the 1984 U.S. Amateur, which was a pivotal moment in his amateur career.
