Seán MacBride was born in Paris, France, to John MacBride, an Irish nationalist executed for his role in the Easter Rising, and Maud Gonne, a noted Irish revolutionary and actress. He was educated in France and Ireland, where he developed a strong sense of nationalism and justice.
Political Career[edit | edit source]
MacBride's political career began with his involvement in the Irish Republican Army (IRA) during the Irish War of Independence. He later became a founding member of Clann na Poblachta, a political party that played a crucial role in Irish politics during the mid-20th century. MacBride served as the Minister for External Affairs from 1948 to 1951, during which he was instrumental in Ireland's decision to leave the British Commonwealth.
