Segalin
Segalin is a traditional Venetian shoemaker known for creating custom-made shoes. The shop is located in Venice, Italy, and has been in operation since the 19th century. The name "Segalin" is derived from the Venetian dialect word for "cobbler."
History[edit | edit source]
The Segalin shop was established in the late 19th century by a family of Venetian cobblers. The shop has been passed down through generations, maintaining its traditional methods of shoemaking. The current owner, Daniela Ghezzo, took over the shop in 1996 after apprenticing under the previous owner, Riccardo Segalin.
Shoemaking Process[edit | edit source]
Segalin is known for its traditional shoemaking process, which involves handcrafting each pair of shoes to fit the customer's feet perfectly. The process begins with a consultation, during which the customer's feet are measured and the design of the shoe is discussed. The shoemaker then creates a wooden last, or mold, of the customer's foot, which is used to shape the shoe. The shoes are made from high-quality leather, which is cut and stitched by hand.
Reputation and Influence[edit | edit source]
Segalin's shoes are highly sought after for their quality and craftsmanship. The shop has a loyal following of customers, including celebrities and fashion enthusiasts. Segalin's shoes have also been featured in various fashion magazines and exhibitions.
