Shaler Township, Pennsylvania
Shaler Township is a township in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is a suburban community located approximately 6 miles north of Pittsburgh. The township is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.

Shaler Township was established in 1847 and named after Charles Shaler, a prominent Pittsburgh area judge. The area was originally part of Pitt Township and later Ross Township before becoming its own entity. The township has a rich history tied to the development of the Pittsburgh region, including its role in the coal and steel industries.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Shaler Township covers a total area of 11.2 square miles, of which 11.1 square miles is land and 0.1 square miles is water. The township is characterized by its hilly terrain and numerous streams, including Pine Creek and Little Pine Creek.
