Sherman County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of the 2010 census, the population was 3,152. The county seat is Loup City. The county was named after General William Tecumseh Sherman.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Sherman County is located in the central part of Nebraska, with a total area of 572 square miles, of which 566 square miles is land and 6.1 square miles is water. The county is bordered by Howard County to the east, Buffalo County to the south, and Custer County to the west.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the 2010 census, there were 3,152 people, 1,329 households, and 884 families residing in the county. The population density was 5.6 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the county was 98.7% White, 0.2% Black or African American, 0.4% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, and 0.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.0% of the population.
