Shiv Kumar Batalvi
Shiv Kumar Batalvi (1936–1973) was a prominent Punjabi poet, known for his romantic and melancholic poetry. Born in the village of Barapind Lohtian, Shakargarh Tehsil, which is now in Pakistan, Batalvi's family moved to India during the Partition of India in 1947. He became one of the youngest recipients of the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1967, an honor given by the Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, for his epic verse play Loona (1965).
