Shrubland is a type of biome characterized by vegetation dominated by shrubs, often also including grasses, herbs, and geophytes. Shrublands may either occur naturally or be the result of human activity. They are found in regions where a moderate climate—typically Mediterranean, with wet winters and dry summers—prevents the growth of a forest, but supports a variety of shrub species.
