Silvestre Revueltas (January 31, 1899 – October 5, 1940) was a prominent Mexican composer, conductor, and violinist. He is considered one of the most important figures in 20th-century Mexican music.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Born in Santiago Papasquiaro, Durango, Mexico, Revueltas showed musical talent from a young age. He studied violin and composition at the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City.

Revueltas's compositions are known for their innovative use of Mexican folk music and rhythms. His works often reflect the social and political issues of his time. Some of his most famous compositions include Sensemaya, La Noche de los Mayas, and Homenaje a Federico García Lorca.
