Slim Chickens

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Slim Chickens is a fast-casual restaurant chain that specializes in chicken tenders and wings. The chain was founded in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2003 by Greg Smart and Tom Gordon. The first location was opened near the University of Arkansas campus. Since then, Slim Chickens has expanded to over 100 locations across the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East.

History[edit | edit source]

The founders, Greg Smart and Tom Gordon, were childhood friends who shared a passion for food. They noticed a lack of fast-casual restaurants serving high-quality chicken in their hometown of Fayetteville, Arkansas. This led them to create Slim Chickens. The name "Slim Chickens" was chosen to reflect the restaurant's focus on chicken, and the "Slim" part of the name was added to give the brand a fun and distinctive identity.

Menu[edit | edit source]

The menu at Slim Chickens centers around its signature chicken tenders and wings, which are always fresh and never frozen. The chicken is cooked to order and served with a variety of dipping sauces, the most popular of which is the house sauce, known as "Slim Sauce". In addition to chicken, the menu also includes sandwiches, salads, wraps, and desserts.

Expansion[edit | edit source]

Since its inception, Slim Chickens has experienced significant growth. The company began franchising in 2005, and by 2018, it had over 80 locations in the United States. In 2014, Slim Chickens expanded internationally, opening its first overseas location in Kuwait. In 2018, the company announced plans to open 30 locations in the United Kingdom over the next three years.

Reception[edit | edit source]

Slim Chickens has been well received for its high-quality food and friendly service. The restaurant has been recognized by several industry publications for its growth and success. In 2017, it was named one of the "Top 100 Movers and Shakers" by Fast Casual magazine.
