Social service is a range of public services provided by government, private, and non-profit organizations. These public services aim to create more effective organizations, build stronger communities, and promote equality and opportunity.

Social services include the benefits and facilities such as education, food subsidies, health care, job training, subsidized housing, adoption, community management, policy research, and lobbying.

The concept of social service has been evolved through the ages. It was originally a voluntary expression of goodwill towards others. But today it has become a commitment and responsibility of the government.
