South Portland is a city located in Cumberland County, Maine, United States. It is the fourth-largest city in the state, with a population of 25,002 as of 2020. South Portland is situated on the southern coast of Maine, bordering the city of Portland to the north across the Fore River.

South Portland was first settled in the early 1600s by European colonists. It was originally part of the town of Cape Elizabeth, but in 1895, it was incorporated as a separate city.
