Special Forces Command (Turkey)
Special Forces Command (Turkish: Özel Kuvvetler Komutanlığı
) is a special operations unit of the Turkish Armed Forces. It is one of the most elite military units in Turkey, tasked with conducting a variety of special operations, including counter-terrorism, unconventional warfare, and reconnaissance missions.

The Special Forces Command was established in 1992, following the reorganization of the Turkish Armed Forces. The unit was created to address the growing need for specialized military operations, particularly in response to the increasing threat of terrorism and asymmetric warfare.
Structure[edit | edit source]
The Special Forces Command operates under the direct command of the Turkish General Staff. It is composed of highly trained personnel selected from various branches of the Turkish Armed Forces. The unit is known for its rigorous selection process and extensive training programs, which include advanced combat skills, survival techniques, and language training.
Training[edit | edit source]
Personnel in the Special Forces Command undergo some of the most demanding training in the Turkish military. The training program includes:
- Advanced marksmanship
- Close quarters combat
- Parachuting
- Demolition
- Survival, evasion, resistance, and escape (SERE)
- Foreign language proficiency

The Special Forces Command has been involved in numerous operations both within Turkey and internationally. Some of their notable operations include:
- Counter-terrorism operations against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK)
- Participation in the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974
- Various peacekeeping missions under the auspices of the United Nations
