Srikant Datar is an Indian-American economist and academic administrator, currently serving as the Dean of Harvard Business School (HBS). Srikant Datar was born in India. He completed his undergraduate degree in statistics from the University of Mumbai. He then moved to the United States to pursue further education, earning a postgraduate diploma in business management from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA). Datar holds two master's degrees and a Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University.

Before joining Harvard Business School, Datar had an illustrious career in academia and business. He served on the faculty of Stanford University and Carnegie Mellon University, where he taught accounting and finance.
