Sterling County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,143. Its county seat is Sterling City. The county was created in 1875 and organized in 1891. Sterling County is named for W. S. Sterling, an early settler in the area.
Geography[edit | edit source]
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 923 square miles (2,390 km2), virtually all of which is land.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,393 people, 506 households, and 389 families residing in the county. The population density was 2 people per square mile (1/km2).
