Street Fighter is a franchise of fighting games developed and published by Capcom, a leading Japanese video game company. The series is credited with establishing many of the conventions of the one-on-one fighting genre. The first game in the series was released in 1987, but it was the sequel, Street Fighter II (1991), that truly catapulted the franchise into global popularity.
