Stroller
Stroller (also known as a baby carriage or pram in the UK) is a hand-pushed vehicle used to carry an infant or young child. Strollers are typically designed with a child seat that may be reclined for a newborn baby to lie down, while others may be more upright for older children.
History[edit | edit source]
The first strollers were constructed in the 1700s, designed as a simple carriage constructed of wood or wicker and held together by brass joints. These early strollers did not have a comfortable design, but they were popular among the upper class. The design of strollers has evolved over time, with modern strollers designed to be more comfortable, safer, and more convenient to use.
Types of Strollers[edit | edit source]
There are several types of strollers available, each designed for different uses and situations. These include:
- Standard Strollers: These are the most common type of stroller and are typically larger, sturdier, and have more features than other types.
- Car Seat Stroller Frames: These are lightweight frames designed to carry certain types of infant car seats.
- Travel Systems: These are standard or jogging strollers that can also carry an infant car seat.
- Lightweight or Umbrella Strollers: These are compact and lightweight, making them ideal for travel.
- Jogging Strollers: These are designed with three bicycle wheels on a lightweight frame and are ideal for parents who want to jog with their child.
- Double and Triple Strollers: These are designed for parents with multiple children.
Safety[edit | edit source]
Safety is a major concern when using a stroller. It is important to use the stroller's harness system, and to ensure that the stroller is not overloaded with weight. It is also important to keep the stroller in good condition by regularly checking for any damage or wear.
