Sublette County, Wyoming

Sublette County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wyoming. As of the 2010 census, the population was 10,247. The county seat is Pinedale. It is a part of the Jackson, WY-ID Micropolitan Statistical Area. The county was founded in 1921 and named for William Lewis Sublette, a fur trader who was an early explorer of the region.

Sublette County spans an area of 4,936 square miles, of which 4,883 square miles is land and 53 square miles is water. The county is bordered by Fremont County to the east, Sweetwater County to the south, Lincoln County to the west, and Teton County to the north.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As of the 2010 census, there were 10,247 people, 4,120 households, and 2,769 families residing in the county. The population density was 2.1 inhabitants per square mile.

The economy of Sublette County is primarily based on mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction. Other significant sectors include agriculture, forestry, fishing, hunting, and construction.
