Sugar Land is a city located in Fort Bend County, Texas, United States. It is a part of the Houston metropolitan area and is one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas. With a population of 118,488 as of 2020, Sugar Land is known for its strong economy, excellent schools, and high quality of life.

Sugar Land was founded in 1838 as a sugar plantation by Samuel M. Williams. The city's name comes from the sugar cane that was grown and processed in the area. The sugar industry played a significant role in the city's early development and growth. In 1908, the Imperial Sugar Company was established in Sugar Land, becoming one of the largest employers in the area.

Sugar Land is located in southeastern Texas, approximately 20 miles southwest of downtown Houston. It is situated within Fort Bend County and is bordered by the Brazos River to the southwest.
