Sutești

Sutești is a commune located in Brăila County, Romania. It is composed of two villages, Sutești and Târlele Filiu. The commune is situated in the eastern part of the country, in the historical region of Muntenia.

Sutești is located in the southeastern part of Romania, in the central part of Brăila County. The commune is situated on the Bărăgan Plain, a large plain with a low relief, characterized by fertile soils and a temperate-continental climate.

The first documentary mention of Sutești dates back to the 16th century. Over the centuries, the commune has been part of several historical provinces, including Wallachia and Moldavia. During the Middle Ages, Sutești was a rural settlement, with agriculture being the main occupation of the inhabitants.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As of the 2011 census, Sutești had a population of 2,487 inhabitants. The majority of the population is of Romanian ethnicity, with a small minority of Roma people. The main religions practiced in the commune are Eastern Orthodox Christianity and Roman Catholicism.

The economy of Sutești is predominantly agricultural, with the main crops being wheat, maize, and sunflowers. There are also several small businesses in the commune, mainly in the retail and services sectors.
