Tanya Streeter

Tanya Streeter is a world record holding freediver from the Cayman Islands, and later a naturalized citizen of the United States. Born on January 10, 1973, Streeter set multiple world records in both the men's and women's categories of freediving.

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Streeter was born in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. She was introduced to the sport of freediving at a young age, and quickly developed a passion for it. She moved to the United States for her higher education, where she continued to pursue her interest in freediving.

Career[edit | edit source]

Streeter's career in freediving began in earnest in 1998, when she broke the women's No Limit dive record. The following year, she broke the men's record in the same category. Over the course of her career, Streeter set a total of 11 world records, including the overall No Limit record in 2002, when she dove to a depth of 525 feet (160 m), a record that stood for two years.

In addition to her competitive career, Streeter has also been involved in various environmental and conservation efforts. She has worked with organizations such as The Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society and The Coral Reef Alliance to promote the protection of marine life and habitats.

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Streeter is married to Paul Streeter, and they have one child together. They currently reside in Austin, Texas, United States.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

Streeter's achievements in the sport of freediving have made her a prominent figure in the sport. Her world records and her advocacy for marine conservation have also made her a respected figure in the environmental community.
