Tazo
Tazo is a tea company that was established in 1994. The company is based in Portland, Oregon, and is a subsidiary of Starbucks. Tazo produces a large range of teas, including green, black, and herbal teas, as well as a variety of specialty teas such as chai and matcha.
History[edit | edit source]
Tazo was founded by Steven Smith, a tea industry veteran who had previously co-founded Stash Tea Company. The name "Tazo" was chosen because it had a unique and exotic sound, and because it could be pronounced easily in many languages. In 1999, Tazo was acquired by Starbucks for $8.1 million.
Products[edit | edit source]
Tazo offers a wide variety of teas, including green tea, black tea, and herbal tea. The company also produces specialty teas such as chai and matcha. In addition to tea bags, Tazo also offers loose leaf teas and ready-to-drink bottled teas.
Sustainability[edit | edit source]
Tazo is committed to sustainability and ethical sourcing. The company is a member of the Ethical Tea Partnership, a global organization that works to improve the lives of tea workers and their environment. Tazo also partners with Mercy Corps, a global humanitarian organization, to support community development projects in tea-growing regions.
