Teaneck is a township in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2020 United States Census, the township's population was 40,919. Teaneck is a suburb in the New York metropolitan area.

Teaneck was incorporated as a township on February 19, 1895, from portions of Englewood Township, Ridgefield Township, and Bogota.

. According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 16.2 square kilometers, of which 16.1 square kilometers is land and 0.1 square kilometers is water.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the 2020 Census, Teaneck had a population of 40,919. The township is known for its diverse population and is home to a significant number of Jewish and African American residents.
Government[edit | edit source]
Teaneck is governed under the Faulkner Act, formally known as the Optional Municipal Charter Law, using the Council-Manager form of government. The township's governing body is comprised of a seven-member Township Council, with the Mayor selected by the council from among its members.
Education[edit | edit source]
Teaneck is served by the Teaneck Public Schools, which provides education from kindergarten through twelfth grade. The district includes several elementary schools, a middle school, and Teaneck High School.
Transportation[edit | edit source]
Teaneck is accessible via several major highways, including Interstate 95, Interstate 80, and New Jersey Route 4. Public transportation is provided by NJ Transit buses, offering service to and from New York City.
