Tempranillo blanco

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Tempranillo blanco is a white Spanish wine grape variety that is grown in the Rioja DOC in Spain. It is a mutation of the red Tempranillo variety that is also grown in the region.

History[edit | edit source]

The Tempranillo blanco grape was discovered in 1988 by the vine grower Juan Carlos Sancha on a vineyard in Murillo de Río Leza. The mutation was officially recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture in 2007.

Viticulture[edit | edit source]

The Tempranillo blanco grape is a relatively new variety in the world of wine, and as such, there is still much to learn about its viticultural characteristics. It is known to be a high yielding variety, and it is typically harvested in late September.

Wine production[edit | edit source]

Tempranillo blanco wines are characterized by a pale yellow color and a strong aroma of fruits and flowers. They are typically aged in oak barrels, which gives them a complex flavor profile that includes notes of vanilla, coconut, and tropical fruits.

Food pairing[edit | edit source]

Tempranillo blanco wines are versatile and can be paired with a variety of foods. They are particularly well-suited to seafood dishes, such as paella and grilled fish, as well as white meats and cheeses.
