The Fullerton Hotel Singapore
The Fullerton Hotel Singapore is a five-star luxury hotel located near the mouth of the Singapore River, in the Downtown Core of Singapore. The hotel is housed in the historic Fullerton Building, which was originally completed in 1928 and served various roles before being converted into a hotel in 2001.
History[edit | edit source]
The Fullerton Building was commissioned in 1924 and completed in 1928. It was designed by Major P.H. Keys in a neoclassical style. The building initially served as the General Post Office, and it also housed various government offices, including the Inland Revenue Department and the Singapore Club.
During World War II, the building was used as a hospital by the British Army and later by the Japanese forces after the fall of Singapore. After the war, it resumed its role as a post office and government office building.
In 1996, the building was gazetted for conservation by the Urban Redevelopment Authority. It was then transformed into a luxury hotel by Sino Group, opening its doors as The Fullerton Hotel Singapore in 2001.
Architecture[edit | edit source]

The interior of the hotel retains many of the building's original features, including the central atrium, which was once the main sorting hall of the General Post Office. The hotel also features a rooftop bar, offering panoramic views of the Marina Bay area.
