The Journal of Infectious Diseases is a peer-reviewed medical journal that publishes research and review articles in the area of infectious diseases. The journal is published by the Oxford University Press on behalf of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA).

The Journal of Infectious Diseases was established in 1904. It is the second oldest infectious disease journal in the world. The journal was initially published by the University of Chicago Press until it was taken over by the Oxford University Press in 1996.

Scope[edit | edit source]

The Journal of Infectious Diseases covers a wide range of topics related to infectious diseases. This includes, but is not limited to, the pathogenesis, clinical investigation, medical microbiology, epidemiology, host response, and immunology of infectious diseases. The journal also publishes articles on the prevention of infectious diseases, including vaccine development and clinical trials.

The Journal of Infectious Diseases is abstracted and indexed in PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus, and the Science Citation Index. According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2019 impact factor of 5.022.
