The Shire[edit | edit source]
The Shire is a fictional region in J.R.R. Tolkien's renowned fantasy series, The Lord of the Rings. It is a peaceful and idyllic land inhabited by Hobbits, a small and unassuming race of beings. Geography[edit | edit source]
The Shire is located in the northwest of Middle-earth, specifically in the region known as Eriador. It is bordered by the Brandywine River to the east, the Far Downs to the west, the Old Forest to the south, and the North Moors to the north. The region is characterized by its rolling hills, lush farmlands, and picturesque landscapes.

The Shire is governed by a Mayor, who is elected by the Hobbits. The current Mayor of The Shire is Will Whitfoot. The Hobbits have a unique calendar system, which consists of twelve months, each with thirty days. They also have their own language, known as Hobbitish.
