Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital is a renowned medical institution in China that specializes in cancer prevention, treatment, training, and research. It was established in 1861 as the London Christian Church Hospital and has since grown to become one of the largest cancer centers in the country.

The hospital's history is marked by significant milestones. In 1952, the well-known oncologist Jin Xianzhai set up the first tumor ward, laying the foundation for specialized cancer care. In 1972, the hospital transformed into a dedicated cancer hospital with 341 beds. Five years later, the Institute of Cancer Research was established, comprising eight departments.

Currently, Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital is at the forefront of cancer research and treatment in China. It is also involved in training healthcare professionals in the field of oncology.

The institution is expanding its facilities to construct the largest cancer prevention, treatment, and research base in Asia. The construction of a comprehensive cancer prevention and treatment research center began in June, with a planned gross floor area of 93,000 square meters. Once completed, the hospital will have 1,800 beds, cater to 500,000 outpatients, and perform over 20,000 surgical operations annually.

The center aims to integrate clinical treatment and scientific research, with the establishment of seven clinical research centers. This approach will facilitate a seamless connection between clinical care and research activities.
