Tirupati Municipal Corporation is the governing body of the city of Tirupati, located in the Chittoor district of the Andhra Pradesh state, India. It is responsible for the civic infrastructure and administration of the city which is considered one of the holiest Hindu pilgrimage sites due to the famous Venkateswara Temple dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, an incarnation of Vishnu.

History

The municipality of Tirupati was established in the year 1886. Recognizing the need for a more robust administrative mechanism to handle the growing demands of urban management and development, the municipality was upgraded to a municipal corporation on 2nd March 2007.
