Toa Alta is a municipality located in the northern Coastal Plain region of Puerto Rico, established in 1751 by Don Fernando Fernández. It is part of the San Juan-Caguas-Guaynabo Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town is known for its nickname, "La Cuna de los Poetas" (Cradle of Poets), due to the numerous poets who have been born there. Toa Alta is bordered by the municipalities of Bayamón, Naranjito, Corozal, and Toa Baja. The town's patron saint is Saint Rose of Lima, and its residents are known as "Toalteños."
