Tororo General Hospital

Tororo General Hospital is a government-funded healthcare facility located in the town of Tororo, in the Eastern Region of Uganda. The hospital is a part of the Uganda National Health System and is overseen by the Ministry of Health.

The hospital is situated in the central business district of Tororo, a town in the Tororo District, approximately 230 kilometers (143 miles) by road, east of Kampala, the capital and largest city of Uganda.

Tororo General Hospital is a public hospital, funded by the government of Uganda. It is one of the 129 government-owned hospitals in Uganda. The hospital provides general medical services, surgery, maternity care, and pediatric care. It also offers HIV/AIDS treatment and counseling services.

The hospital provides a range of healthcare services including:

  • General Medicine: This includes the diagnosis and treatment of general health conditions.
  • Surgery: The hospital has a well-equipped surgical department that handles both minor and major surgeries.

Like many other public hospitals in Uganda, Tororo General Hospital faces several challenges including inadequate funding, shortage of medical supplies, and a high patient-to-doctor ratio.
