Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop
Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop is a theme park attraction located in various Disney Parks around the world. This attraction is inspired by the popular Pixar film series, Toy Story, and offers guests the experience of being part of Andy's backyard with the toy soldiers. The ride is especially notable for its family-friendly appeal, allowing guests of almost all ages to experience the thrill of a parachute drop.
Overview[edit | edit source]
Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop is a type of drop tower ride, but with a gentler descent to accommodate younger riders and those who prefer less intense attractions. Riders are seated in benches attached to "parachutes" that are lifted to the top of a tower before being dropped in a series of gentle falls, simulating a parachute drop. The attraction's design and theming heavily reference the green army men from the Toy Story movies, complete with a military-style lookout tower and camouflaged netting.
Locations[edit | edit source]
The attraction can be found in the following Disney Parks:
- Disneyland Paris in the Walt Disney Studios Park, as part of the Toy Story Playland area.
- Hong Kong Disneyland, within the Toy Story Land area.
- Shanghai Disneyland Park, also within a Toy Story-themed area.
Each version of the ride shares a similar theme and ride experience but may have slight variations in design and layout to fit within the specific park's Toy Story Land area.
Ride Experience[edit | edit source]
Upon entering the queue, guests are immersed in a world where they are the size of a toy, navigating through a landscape of oversized toy props and army men figures. The queue leads to the loading area where guests are briefed on their mission by an audio-animatronic figure of Sarge, the leader of the green army men.
Riders are then secured in their seats, which are attached to cables resembling parachute cords. The ride ascends, offering views of the surrounding park before executing a series of drops and rises. The descent is controlled and offers a sensation similar to parachuting, with the ride vehicle gently swaying and bouncing as it "floats" down.
Reception[edit | edit source]
Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop has been well-received by guests for its family-friendly approach to a drop tower ride. It is praised for its immersive theming and the unique experience it offers within the Toy Story Land areas. The attraction is often highlighted as a must-visit for families and Toy Story fans visiting the parks.
