Tribology
Tribology is the science and engineering of interacting surfaces in relative motion. It includes the study and application of the principles of friction, lubrication, and wear. Wear is the process of material loss from one or both of two solid surfaces in relative motion. Types of wear include adhesive wear, abrasive wear, corrosive wear, and surface fatigue.
