Truth Initiative

Truth Initiative is a nonprofit public health organization committed to making tobacco use and nicotine addiction a thing of the past. Established in 1999, the organization was originally known as the American Legacy Foundation, a name derived from the Master Settlement Agreement between the major U.S. tobacco companies and 46 states, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories. This agreement was a result of litigation to recover billions of dollars in healthcare costs associated with tobacco-related illnesses. The Truth Initiative is best known for its national campaigns aimed at discouraging tobacco use among teens and young adults, most notably through its "Truth" campaign.
