USS Saratoga
USS Saratoga may refer to one of several United States Navy ships named after the Battle of Saratoga, a significant event in the American Revolutionary War.
USS Saratoga (1842)[edit | edit source]
The first USS Saratoga was a sloop-of-war launched in 1842. She served in the Mexican-American War and the American Civil War.
USS Saratoga (CV-3)[edit | edit source]
The second USS Saratoga (CV-3) was a Lexington-class aircraft carrier launched in 1925. She was one of the first fast carriers of the United States Navy and played a significant role in the early stages of World War II in the Pacific.
USS Saratoga (CV-60)[edit | edit source]
The third USS Saratoga (CV-60), previously CVA-60, is a Forrestal-class aircraft carrier commissioned in 1956. She served in the Vietnam War and the Gulf War before being decommissioned in 1994.
USS Saratoga (CC-3)[edit | edit source]
The fourth USS Saratoga (CC-3) was a proposed Lexington-class battlecruiser that was cancelled before her keel was laid down.
USS Saratoga (ACR-2)[edit | edit source]
The fifth USS Saratoga (ACR-2) was an American cruiser that was renamed USS New York before her commissioning.
