The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) is a public university located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It was established in 1961 as an affiliate college of the University of London. In 1970, it became an independent institution.

The University of Dar es Salaam was founded in 1961 as the University College, Dar es Salaam, a constituent college of the University of London. It became a constituent college of the University of East Africa in 1963, and in 1970, it became an independent university.
Campus[edit | edit source]
The main campus of the University of Dar es Salaam is located on the western side of the city of Dar es Salaam, occupying 1,625 acres on the Observation Hill, 13 kilometers from the city center. The campus is known for its lush greenery and modern architecture.
Nkrumah Hall[edit | edit source]
Nkrumah Hall is one of the prominent buildings on the campus, named after Kwame Nkrumah, the first President of Ghana. It serves as a venue for various academic and social events.
